When and where will 33. IASGO World Congress be organized?

The congress will be organized between 28 September - 1 October in İstanbul, Turkey, one of the most important cities around the world where modern and historical are intertwined. 33. IASGO World Congress will be organized in İstanbul Congress Centre which is located near important touristic attractions in İstanbul.

Who can participate in the congress?

IASGO World Congress aims to bring together gastroenterologists, surgeons, endoscopists, laparoscopists, hepatologists, oncologists, radiologists and pathologists.  Accordingly, the congress is open to participants across various medical areas since a multidisciplinary approach is supported. The congress aims for the participation of new generation doctors to ensure knowledge and experience transfer continuity.

What language will the congress be organized in?

The official language of the Congress will be English since participants from different countries around the world will be at the event.

How and where can I get a Turkish visa?

The foreign country citizens who will travel to Turkey are subjected to different visa requirements depending on transnational agreements. Accordingly, the citizens of certain countries have the visa-free entrance right to Turkey. Foreign visitors who do not have this right must complete visa procedures online or by directly applying to the embassies of the Republic of Turkey in their own country. The countries with visa exemption and e-visa procedures are given below. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey recommends visa application one month prior to planned travel dates to avoid any problems due to visa delays.

How can I book accommodation?

The organization secretary of the İASGO World Congress offers an accommodation package with different options for congress participants. The package content has Mercure Bomonti, Crowne Plaza, Ramada Plaza by Wyndham, Point Hotel, Elite World, and Divan hotels which are all 5-star hotels within walking distance to the congress venue. The participants can choose one of the suitable options when they register from the registration page. The breakfast and VAT are included in hotel prices.

How can I reach to congress centre?

İstanbul Congress Centre is located in Harbiye, near Taksim square, one of the central locations in İstanbul. Participants can access Taksim Square from any location in the city by metro and take a 15-20 minutes-walk to the congress centre. In addition to that, there are İETT bus stops which is one of the public transport options to reach the congress centre. Participants who do not want to walk to Taksim Square can use these buses to Harbiye which can be accessed from the metro station entrance.

Which COVID-19 precautions will be taken in the congress?

Congress will follow the mandatory mask rules in closed areas in line with the precautions announced by the Ministry of Health. The precautions might be subject to change if the Ministry of Health updates these precautions. What can I do in İstanbul in my free time?

İstanbul Congress Centre and hotels offered by the organization secretary are located within a walking distance or public transport distance from the important historical and cultural attractions in İstanbul. You can reach Taksim Square by taking a short walk from Harbiye and using the metro station in Taksim Square to reach the Golden Horn, the historical Süleymaniye Mosque (near Vezneciler metro station) and walk to Beyazıt Square. You can visit the historical places such as Topkapı Palace, Hagia Sophia, Sultanahmet Square and Blue Mosque, Gülhane Park and Eminönü Square by taking the tramway line near Beyazıt Square. You can reach Kabataş and Karaköy with the funicular line in Taksim Square. Beşiktaş, which is one of the historical and important districts in İstanbul, is extremely close to bus lines via Kabataş. In addition to that, you can reach Üsküdar and Kadıköy which are among the other important and historical districts by taking the ferry line from Kabataş. You can reach Üsküdar and Kadıköy with ferry lines from Karaköy and take the tramway line to reach important historical places in Eminönü. You can discover the restaurants that offer various dishes from Turkish cuisine and world cuisine, street food, historical and cultural venues and the squares where the city lives during your travel.

What are the main topics of the congress?

33. IASGO World Congress will focus on multidisciplinary clinical trials, biomarker focused approaches in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, gastrointestinal oncology, upper gastrointestinal surgery, transplant oncology, colorectal surgery, hepato-pancreatic biliary surgery, new systemic therapies/immunotherapy, bariatric and metabolic surgery, liver transplantation, cytoreductive surgery (hipec and pipac), nutrition, interventional radiology, eras, imaging in oncology, regional therapies, endoscopy, innovative technologies in gastroenterology and endoscopy, neuroendocrine tumours, gist, pain management strategies for cancer patients, infection and complication in surgery and oncology, nuclear medicine, robotic surgery, artificial intelligence in surgery, intraoperative ultrasonography in hpb surgery, laparoscopic surgery, management of intraoperative and postoperative complications (bleeding, haemostasis, liver failure, etc.) titles.

When can I submit abstract to the congress? What are the abstract categories?

The abstracts must be submitted between 1 April - 15 July 2022 to be assessed for presentation in the congress. The acceptance announcement will be on 15 August 2022.. The  abstracts must be submitted on the online system between designated dates. The announcement for paper abstract acceptance will be notified to the abstract sender via email. All accepted and presented papers will be published in the additional issue of the “Surgical, Gastroenterology and Oncology” journal (the journal is indexed in Index Copernicus).

Is there a registration fee to participate in IASGO World Congress?

The congress registration is priced differently for IASGO members and non-members. The price options will have congress registration as well as options to become an IASGO member. Scientists who are 27 years old or younger can participate in the congress with discounted price options. The congress secretary will send an approval letter/payment invoice via email after the completed registration form and related payments are collected. The participants must show this approval/payment invoice to the registration book to prove their registration and payment.

What is included in the registration fee? What are the payment methods?

The registration fee includes conference materials, Certificate of Attendance and admission to scientific sessions.. VAT is included in the prices. Payments can be collected via credit card (Visa, MasterCard and American Express) and bank wire.

Will the registration fee be refunded if I don’t participate in the congress? What is your cancellation policy?

  • 15% of the paid fee will be deducted and the remaining fee will be refunded to participants who cancel their registration before 15 June 2022.
  • 50% of the paid fee will be deducted and the remaining fee will be refunded to participants who cancel their registration before 16 June - 15 September 2022.
  • There won’t be any refund for participants who cancel their registration after 16 September.
  • The cancellation for registrations must be sent to iasgo-registration@dixitravel.com address via email and congress secretary in written format
  • In general, registrations for all social activities are refunded 100% until 15 September 2022 and there won’t be any refund after 15 September 2022.
  • The name changes until 15 September are subject to a 25 EUR fee per registration.
  • All refunds will be done after 15 October 2022.

Will there be pre-congress courses in the congress? What are the course topics?

Pre-congress courses will be provided in metabolic bariatric surgery, robotic surgery, cytoreductive surgery (hipec & pipac), endoscopic ultrasonography, intraoperative ultrasonography in hpb surgery, initiating and presenting clinical trials, and laparoscopic colorectal surgery and radiology in hpb diseases areas before the congress.
